You have now arrived in the wilderness of Pench National Park where Rudyard Kipling took his inspiration from to write The Jungle Book. Our naturalists, eagerly await to take you on your next adventure weather it’s a safari, nature walk, bike ride, or just a stroll through the local village.
As you drive up to Jamtara Camp, you feel the calmness that will surround you for the next few days of your stay, with lush jungles surrounding you and the minimal use of concrete, the city life is left behind.

The Wilderness around us
Wildlife is not only seen in our national parks, but even around us. With an ideal location, of being right next to the national park and away from crowds (being the only camp in the area), there is no disturbance for wildlife to pass freely through our camp. Whether you want to take a walk or a bike ride, our naturalists will accompany you to help identify the flora and fauna around us. Make sure to take your ‘Jamtara Book’ provided in your tents, in order to note everything you see. One of these videos are from the Camera trap around our tents. See who has been visiting.
The Community
Star Bed
We believe Wildlife Conservation is about striking the right balance between the interests of the animals, forests, and the local communities. It is crucial to work with these ancient tribes that have become one with the land, and have watched it change over time. For generations, the villagers have spent their nights in the fields on machans (beds made on raised platforms), to keep a watchful eye on the animals eating their crops. We at Jamtara, wanted to take this opportunity to let our guests have this unique experience.
Farm to Table Food
Cuisine is a major focus of your experience at the camp. Our farm to table approach, where the majority of our ingredients are sourced from locally grown farms, whilst benefiting the communities around us, is another step towards sustainability. Our Chefs have created a diverse menu, where even in a week long stay, your menu will not be repeated.
UNWIND
You have come to disconnect from the mundane day to day city life and to immerse into nature. Why not – DO NOTHING. Jamtara provides for the ideal atmosphere to relax, weather its listening to bird sounds through the day, taking a swim in our infinity pool, reading your favourite book, colouring your bird book or unwinding with your favourite drink listening to Ray Charles on our unique vertical Gramophone. The choice is yours.

My family, grandchildren and all, absolutely fell in love with the Jamtara Wilderness Camp. Kailash Sankhala, the first Director, Project Tiger, and Amit's grandfather would have been proud of him and the team he has put together. Sanctuary is working with Amit to rewild the outskirts of the Pench Tiger Reserve in ways that help ensure that local communities become the primary beneficiaries of regenerated biodiversity.
